JANET PAGE - South African Fine Artist

About Me

I had studied for 5 years at the PE Technikon with a passion to paint and hoped to be an Art Lecturer to discover that you needed to be fluent in Afrikaans which I was not.

I applied for a job as a Window Dresser at the local Truworths and my career in Retail began... I relocated to Johannesburg in 1985 and got a job as a Visual Merchandiser for Edgars, servicing Southdale and Rossettenville Stores.  Later promoted to Roodepoort and to Sunnyside Pretoria where I became a Christian at Hatfield Christian Centre.  I was promoted to Edgars Cresta in 1988 and married in 1989 to Rob Page, the son of local still life artist Gwen Page.  Rob had daughters Vicky and Carey Page who are grown up and reside in Johannesburg.  I had run a Christian Bookshop for a few years and had also relocated to Howick and started working at Sales House in Pietermaritzburg before relocating  to Durban in 1993.  Worked at Jet STores as Visual Merchandise manager and later became Store Manager for Eshowe and Field Street Stores.

Presently works at Trademark Corporate Gifts as a Sales Consultant and hopes to paint full time while taking care of Jonathan who is now 18 after her passion for painting was ignited again after painting a banner for her Christian Dance Group.

Hobbies include Praise Dancing, Koi keeping and gardening.September 2008
